Home Care

The Ridgewood Bushwick Senior Citizen Homecare Council, Inc., (referred to as RB Homecare Council, Inc.) was established in 1979.

The Agency received its initial funding from NYC Human Resources Administration to provide home attendant services to 200 Medicaid eligible, frail, homebound and disabled individuals residing in Brooklyn..

The Agency’s demonstrated capability in providing comprehensive quality services directed NYC HRA to refer additional clients to the program and in July of 1982, the Agency’s contract was increased to 400 cases. Two years later, the program’s contract was increased to 600 cases..

By 1985, the program’s caseload rose to 800 cases, expanding its catchment area to include the Ridgewood and Glendale sections of Queens. In 2006, Ridgewood Bushwick Homecare Council received its first housekeeping contract from the NYC Dept. for the Aging to serve 400 elderly residents of Brooklyn. In 2008, the NYC Human Resources Administration awarded the Agency its second housekeeping contract to serve 200 Medicaid eligible residents of Queens and Brooklyn. .

Currently the organization serves 1200 homecare clients. These caseload increments were a direct result of the Agency’s reputation as a social service entity that is committed to the provision of quality care..

In its 32 years of continued homecare services to Brooklyn and Queens, RB Homecare Council, Inc., is proud to highlight its achievements as follows: .

In September 1988, RB Homecare Council, Inc. began a Field Support Liaison Unit, which provided on-site support and supervision to its homecare workers..

In 1992, RB Homecare Council Inc. implemented an innovative and cost effective service model known as “cluster care”, where one homecare worker is assigned to the care of ambulatory clients residing in close proximity to each other. In addition to maximizing social service dollars and the homecare worker’s productivity, this service model facilitates access to clients during an emergency. .

In June 11, 1991, RB Homecare Council, Inc. secured its operating license from the New York State Dept. of Health (NYS DOH) to provide nursing, home health aide, personal care, and housekeeping services in Kings, New York, Queens and Richmond Counties. In securing this operating license, the Agency was directed to account to higher standards of care. The Agency developed and established evidence based practices in providing homecare to a service population that presented multiple medical diagnosis and increasing risks in client care. .
