Read about Buena Vida Continuing Care and Rehabilitation Center
The RBSCC’s most triumphant accomplishment to date has been the construction and grand opening of a state-of-the-art facility for long-term and rehabilitative care, the Buena Vida Continuing Care and Rehabilitative Center. Opened in February 2001, Buena Vida is a 240-bed residential health care center providing long-term care and short-term rehabilitation. Planned and built in cooperation with local community groups, Buena Vida is designed to complement its residential neighborhood. Comfortable modern amenities are provided in a home-like environment. Spacious sun-filled rooms and lounges are ideal for social visits, recreation, or solitary activities. Buena Vida’s environment is designed to promote the clinical, social, and spiritual healing of its residents. To ensure that our services remain in touch with the needs, Buena Vida has active resident and family councils. Our services, which are provided by bilingual staff, include the following:
Primary Care Services: Buena Vida is staffed by highly skilled medical, nursing, and rehabilitation professionals who are committed to the health and welfare of its residents. Under the supervision of our full-time medical director, primary care is provided to all residents by on-site attending physicians and consultant specialists who are skilled in internal medicine, geriatrics, and family practice as well specialties: ophthalmology, dentistry, podiatry, psychiatry, surgery, orthopedics, radiology, and pulmonary medicine. Registered nurses are on duty round-the-clock.
Rehabilitative Services: Restorative therapy is provided for a variety of conditions such as: stroke, trauma, fracture, amputation, joint replacement, neurological and neuromuscular disorders, and gait disorder. Based on a physician’s orders, our qualified physical, occupational, and speech therapists will design and provide therapeutic programs to enable residents to reach their optimal level of functioning. Positive outcomes are maintained through Buena Vida’s collaborative approach to resident support.
Therapeutic Recreational Services: Buena Vida offers a variety of group and individualized programs designed to meet the social, physical, and spiritual well-being of the residents. A full calendar of activities (including music, art, dancing, games and trips) and educational programs are available to those residents wishing to participate.
Social Work Services: From the point of admission, Buena Vida’s staff of social workers is an integral link among the residents, their families, other members of the health care team, and the community. Ongoing support and comprehensive care management, including discharge planning when appropriate, are provided. Plans include home care, equipment and community referral services. Certified social workers provide individual, group, and family counseling.
Amenities and Dining Services: Residents of Buena Vida have a myriad of other services available including: beautician and barber services, daily newspaper delivery, movies, religious services, happy hour, and volunteer programs. A registered dietitian assesses the nutritional needs of each resident and assists in creating a well-balanced diet. Residents select their meal preferences from culturally diverse menus.
